Biking, Riding and Hiking in Transylvania

This exciting multi-sport adventure allows you to experience several different outdoor activities. You will spend three days hiking, two days cycling and two days horse-riding. The sports are suitable for everyone - whatever your level of experience.
On this trip you will see a wonderful variety of scenery, interesting land formations, traditional Romanian villages, castles, you will stay mostly in private homes so you can get to the roots of Romanian home life, tradition and cuisine.

On your first day you will visit Sinaia Monastery and Peleş Castle, a magnificent royal palace built as a summer residence by Romania's King Carol I. Then you will cross by foot the Bucegi Mountains - Romania's most popular mountains - which forms part of the mountainous barrier that divides Transylvania of Wallachia. You will sleep in the highest cabana in the whole of the Carpathians. It sits atop Mount Omu (2505m), the highest peak in the Bucegi.

Next day you will continue the route hiking via Gaura Valley, passing by a waterfall and descending to Bran, best known for its famous castle wrongly linked to  the legendary Count Dracula. On your first biking or walking day you will cross Peştera and Măgura villages with fantastic views over the Piatra Craiului and Bucegi Mountains to Moeciu, a famed village throughout Romania for the pine-aroma cheese it produces.

A relax cycling day on a scenic route you will have in the Land of Făgăraş.You will have the chance to ride on the Lippizaners horses at the foothills of the Transylvanian Alps and enjoy a picnic in the summer pasture.

On your rest day you will have plenty of time to explore Braşov, an old Saxon merchant town, with its medieval streets, defensive towers, churches and its famous Council Square.

On your last day you will have your last challenge: cross the Baiului Mountains by bike at 1700m on an exciting route through forest trails.



                                     Itinerary

Day 1 -
Transfer from Bucharest airport to Sinaia, known as 'the Pearl of the Carpathians'

Day 2 - Visit Peleş Castle and the orthodox Sinaia Monastery. Take the cable car to Furnica summit, walk past Piatra Arsă (Burnt Rock) and Babele ridge to Omu (2505m), the highest peak in Bucegi Mountains

Day 3 - Cross high ridge from Omu through Gaura Valley to Bran village

Day 4 - Visit Bran Castle, then walk or bike in the wild, beautiful countryside of the Peştera - Măgura area with splendid views of Piatra Craiului ('the King's Stone') behind

Day 5 - Drive to Vad in the Land of Făgăraş, bordered to the south by the lofty ridges of the Transylvanian Alps. Bike to Sāmbăta de Jos

Day 6,7 - Explore by horse the valleys in the surrounding area

Day 8 - Visit Braşov's famed Black Church, the central square , or take the Tāmpa cable car which offers you a stunning view of the town

Day 9 - Drive to Azuga. Bike to Doftana Valley crossing the Baiului Mountains on forest trails

Day 10 - Transfer to Bucharest airport
